Hi. Thank you for taking a few minutes to discover more about Relevant Church. You might be wondering, what’s up with the name, or why do I need to hear about another church? What’s different about this one? Before Relevant Church formed a couple of years ago, we started out wanting to be a place for people who were outside of faith and/or for people who didn’t typically go to church. Maybe they had a bad experience in the past where they had been hurt. Maybe they are just skeptical of organized religion, or maybe church has had a negative connotation. Regardless, we wanted to create a church that would be a place where people could find a community and heal, where they could find deep and meaningful relationships, and where they could discover profound life with God.
Jesus Christ is everything to us and we don’t apologize for that. When we stop to examine Jesus in the Bible, we find He always loved those who lived life with a serious barrier that kept them from God. Jesus hung out with the broken, the hurting, the outcast, the addicts, struggling families. We want to be about reaching the same people Jesus was reaching.
So we asked, what would it look like for us to be a church that is transparent and real about everything - a place where true, unconditional love could be practiced towards everyone to the best of our human ability? Imagine being able to go to a church where you could just be yourself; not pretending to have it all together, not dressing a certain way or talking a certain way to fit in. That is what we imagined and that is what we have been blessed to be a part of. We focus on relationships, not on religion. We are not trying to get people to join a denomination, to change, or to convert from one religion to another. We simply want to love Jesus and love people, in fresh, relevant, and creative ways.
